Dijabetes

Diabetes

Today, diabetes is one of the most common endocrinological diseases, with a prevalence that is constantly increasing. It is a consequence of the modern lifestyle and the increase in the number of external etiological factors, among which obesity, physical inactivity and stress stand out. A huge number of patients (about 50%) do not know or are not aware that they suffer from diabetes, which exposes them to a serious risk of early development of numerous complications of this disease.

Diabetes (Diabetes Mellitus) is a complex disease that occurs as a result of an imbalance in the secretion or action of insulin, a key hormone produced in the pancreas. Insulin plays a key role in carbohydrate metabolism, i.e. regulation of sugar levels in the body. When there isn't enough insulin, the sugar we get from food can't be transferred from the bloodstream to the cells, resulting in an increase in blood sugar.

Diseases of the thyroid gland

Diseases of the thyroid gland are just behind diabetes in terms of prevalence. They represent serious medical conditions that require the attention of a professional team of doctors. The thyroid gland plays a key role in the regulation of metabolism and hormone balance in the body.

The two most common disorders are hyperthyroidism, when the thyroid gland produces too much hormone, and hypothyroidism, when it produces too little hormone. An enlargement of the gland, known as a goiter, can be associated with over- or under-activity of the gland.

Many thyroid diseases can be asymptomatic at first, which can make timely diagnosis difficult. There is a wide range of symptoms and complications including fatigue, obesity, nervousness, and problems with concentration. Detection and treatment of disorders in the function of the gland in the early stages can prevent complications.
The diagnosis of thyroid disease usually involves a complex assessment of hormone levels, an ultrasound examination and possibly a biopsy.
It is important to consult a doctor in a timely manner if you notice any symptoms that could indicate problems with the thyroid gland. Prevention and regular check-ups are key to maintaining the health of this important gland.
