Cardiology

As a specialist, a cardiologist deals with diseases of the heart and blood vessels, which are the most common diseases today. Regular cardiology examinations are recommended for patients who already suffer from cardiovascular diseases, but also for those with a positive family history that indicates the need for additional care of the cardiovascular system.

Cardiology examination is painless and does not require special preparation. It includes a clinical examination, measurement of blood pressure, heart rate, electrocardiogram, as well as evaluation of risk factors for heart and blood vessel diseases such as high blood pressure, blood fats, obesity, smoking history, diabetes...

Echocardiography - ultrasound of the heart

Echocardiography, also known as cardiac ultrasound, is a type of medical imaging using standard ultrasound or Doppler ultrasound. The visual image formed by this technique is called an echocardiogram.

Echocardiography is an examination that evaluates the functions of the heart muscle and the preservation of the contractile function of the heart, the mobility of the heart muscle, the condition and possible diseases of the heart valves, and heart strength. Also, this examination measures the volume and muscle mass of the heart, and also diagnoses congenital and acquired heart defects.

Stress echocardiography is the best method for detecting and monitoring coronary disease. It is used for risk assessment after acute heart attack, for functional assessment of stenosis of coronary blood vessels, assessment of viable myocardium and monitoring of symptomatic patients after interventional and/or cardiosurgical myocardial revascularization. Stress can be caused by physical exertion, pharmacological substances and atrial pacing. The most common pharmacological substances used in stress echocardiography are dobutamine, dipyridamole and adenosine. With this test, it is possible to monitor the work of the heart through ECG and ultrasound. The test is very comfortable because the patient lies down during the whole test, while the heart is stressed by the drug. The pharmacological stress echocardiographic test is more useful and valid than the classic stress test (ergometry), which is the first choice in suspected coronary disease.

Test opterećenja - ergometrija

Ergometry - load test

Stress test - ergometry is a method used to determine the impact of physical stress on the heart. It is recommended for patients who have symptoms in the form of rapid fatigue during usual physical activities, as well as chest pain during physical exertion. The test is performed by having the patient walk on a treadmill or ride a bicycle, slowly at first, then increasing the speed and incline. During the test, the heart's electrical activity, blood pressure value, heart rate per minute and breathing are monitored all the time.

24h holter monitoring

24-hour holter blood pressure monitoring involves monitoring blood pressure values over a period of 24 hours. This is a form of additional diagnostics for patients who have symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, ringing in the ears, fainting... and all with the aim of giving the best recommendation for further treatment.

24-hour holter monitoring ECG involves monitoring the heart (frequency and rhythm) over a period of 24 hours. This method is recommended for patients with symptoms of rapid and/or irregular heartbeat in order to give the best possible recommendation for their further treatment.

Doppler blood vessels

Doppler blood vessels of the neck is a painless, non-invasive diagnostic method that measures blood flow through the blood vessels of the neck. This method detects narrowing of blood vessels or their expansion (aneurysms). Deposits or plaques can be seen on the arteries that narrow the cavity of the blood vessel, thanks to which the risk of stroke (stroke) is determined.

Doppler of the blood vessels of the lower and upper extremities is a non-invasive diagnostic method that measures the blood flow through the blood vessels of the extremities and the existence of possible narrowings. This method is recommended for patients who have symptoms such as cramps and pain in the calf after walking 30, 50, or 100 meters, swelling of the legs, enlarged leg veins, or changes in the skin of the extremities.
